Hachiko : A Dog of Love

"Hachii!!" I searched in the internet the meaning of Hachii. And it actually  means: eight. And Japaneses believe that number eight is a lucky number. Perhaps, bringing happiness and luck.

And that is the name given to a special dog, from the Akita breed. The story of Hachiko is actually a true story from Japan. It was made into a Japan movie and in 2009, adapted by the American and released the movie: Hachiko: A Dog's Story.

Well... What I wanna talk about is not about the history of Hachiko, but mostly about the positive moral values of the movie itself. And how it had made some of my friends cried-even the boys!(hahaha..)

Most western movies show a lot of adult contents, which is hardly accepted by some people especially by the easterns. But this American Hachiko movie is very different! There's not much about the adult contents and the story is dominated with a special love between humans and man-between a dog and its master..and the people around them.

Even as a puppy, Hachiko had already touched the heart of a million. Akita breed is used as a royal companion in Japan(as far as I know). This means that this dog is a rare species which is used to be a guardian, helper and a friend for humans. That's why in the story, Hachiko didn't want to play fetch at first, because like his ancessors, he only want to do something for a reason(just like real Japanese)! A serious dog, he is..
Before his master died, he could feel 'the death' already and for some reason, his afraid. I was told before, that animals especially dogs, could see this kind of things that humans can't see-such as ghost, angels, demons, and maybe in this case, death-. Maybe that time he was scared and tried to stay away, but didn't want his master to experience something bad. That's why he suddenly wanted to play fetch and tried to stop his master from going to work...

His master didn't come back but he still waited at the same spot every single day. As if its a sin to leave one single day without waiting. Wow... No humans can do that, I'm sure. We're probably too busy with our everyday chores.
When Hachiko sat there waiting, I felt as if I was him. The loneliness which can't be describe.. it's hurtful. Waiting for someone who'd died is torturing you know.. An impossible hope. Most of us probably will just forget about it and tried our best to stop hoping...

The loyal and loving character of Hachi really touched my heart. I watched this movie in class with my friend yesterday (red: Tuesday, 6 April 2010) and we cried. Three girls cried so bad that their whole face turned red! And two boys sobbed  a little... secretly.. hahaha.. I watched it again at night and cried-again. The thing that I couldn't stand the most was its face. It had a cute loving pleading face... oww.. cuddly.. :')

I hope we all can be like Hachiko.. Loyal and devotes our love to the people we love...
